Events

Each month Dixie Adoptables has public events including adoption fairs, pet visits to nursing homes, school field trips, and fundraisers.

Shelter Operations

A lot of work goes on at the shelter everyday from laundry to cleaning kennels to walking and playing with the animals.

Rescue Operations

We are often called on to rescue animals who are lost, scared, and starving. This is the front lines of animal rescue.

Special Projects

We are a hands-on rescue and we often have a pressing need for volunteers with carpentry, plumbing, and other trade skills.

Want to make a real “hands-on” difference in animal’s lives?

You can volunteer for Dixie Adoptables and help us help the animals. There are lots of opportunities to use your experience, skills, and desire to make the world a better place right here in Lucedale.

We love and value our volunteers! We can use your help for an hour a week, a day a month, or every day.

Since we are an officially recognized charity, your volunteer hours can also count towards community service credits and school requirements.

Some of the volunteer opportunities we have available are:

• Shelter Cleaning and upkeep
• Animal Care (walking dogs, playing with cats, socializing animals)
• Office/Clerical
• Maintenance and repair (general repairs, painting, etc.)
• Events (adoption fairs, partnership programs)
• Fundraising
• Rescue operations
• Public eduction
• Many more!
